After completing her PLT placement with Richardson Murray earlier this year, Sarah was admitted as a lawyer in October 2021. She completed a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and Bachelor of Arts (Journalism) at Griffith University in 2020, where she was awarded the Griffith University Medal for Academic Excellence. Sarah spent time working and volunteering in family law during her studies, both in private practice and at the Specialist Domestic and Family Violence Court at Southport. Sarah was lucky enough to be at university pre-COVID, which meant she was also able to study abroad for a year at the University of Leeds, UK.
Sarah is interested in and passionate about all aspects of family law, specifically the prevention of domestic violence. During her studies, Sarah wrote an Honours thesis, entitled ‘Is that really the best we can do?’. The thesis explores whether Queensland’s legal system is adequately cognisant of LGBTIQ+ victims of intimate partner violence. Sarah interviewed legal practitioners, judicial officers and other relevant stakeholders, and now hopes that we can increase awareness of this issue.
When she’s not in the office, Sarah enjoys spending time at the beach, eating Japanese food and attempting to bake in her kitchen.
